July 11, 2006-Tale of Two Cities

A New Adventure: Bangkok

We sailed Wings to Singapore to look for jobs. We thought we'd stay there a while, find work and make a contribution to our cruising kitty; plus we wanted to spend some time getting to know Singapore (like we got to know Hong Kong), explore the city, make some friends, live there a while, and maybe do some sailing there too.

Then our plans changed.

We found jobs in Bangkok, Thailand, not Singapore.

So we moved to Bangkok. We're now living in Bangkok in a furnished apartment and Wings is parked in Singapore.

Our plan is to live in Bangkok for a few years and travel to Singapore once or twice a month to go sailing. Wings will be our holiday home in Singapore, our escape from the city (Wings is in a very quiet marina in Singapore). Meanwhile we get to experience a new exotic and chaotic Asian city.

Singapore: Still part of our plan

Does this mean we've quit cruising? Well, no, not for good. We'll be on the move again soon enough. But for now most of our reports will cover Singapore and Bangkok and the sailing scene in SE Asia. Maybe it’s not the traditional cruising story, but it’s us.

Congratulations Fred & Judy. What an awsome journey. I came across this by accident but enjoyed reading this blog (partly of course). All the best from a fellow sailer
